When you enroll in Jawnt Pass, you have the option to choose between a physical debit card and a virtual-only card.
Physical Jawnt Pass: You’ll receive a physical debit card in the mail, typically within 7 business days. It will arrive in a blank white envelope, with instructions on how to activate your card. You’ll also get a virtual card in addition to your physical card, which you can access under Jawnt Pass -> Manage Card. Your virtual card details will be available immediately after enrolling.
Choose this option if:
You prefer having a physical card for making payments or using tap-to-pay on transit
You want the flexibility of having both a physical and virtual card
Virtual Jawnt Pass Only: You’ll get your virtual card right away, which you can access under Jawnt Pass → Manage Card. You can add your virtual card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for tap-to-pay by following these steps.
Choose this option if:
You always use your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to pay for transit and don't want to carry a physical card
Can I start using my virtual card right away?
Even though your virtual card will be available right away, keep in mind you’ll have to wait until it’s funded for the next month before you can use it. You can check your balance under Jawnt Pass and your card status under Manage Card. You’ll also receive an email from Jawnt once funds are available. I chose to receive a physical + virtual card. Can I use them interchangeably?
Yes! Your physical and virtual cards have two different numbers, but are associated with the same funding account, so you can use them interchangeably. For example, you may find it easier to tap your physical card to ride the subway, and use your virtual card to pay for a monthly pass online.
You can access your card details from your Jawnt account by going to Jawnt Pass, then Manage Card, and entering a verification code to see your card details.
