If HR Admins elect to transfer their employee rosters via CSV, Jawnt uses a FTP server for secure transfer.

If you are using Jawnt's CSV-over-SFTP HR roster integration and need to manually transfer a CSV file, we advise using FileZilla.

FileZilla is a free, open-source FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software allowing users to easily connect to other FTP/SFTP servers to exchange files.

Note: You can use any FTP client, but this walkthrough uses FileZilla.

Before connecting to Jawnt's SFTP, you will need to generate SSH keys and provide us with your public SSH key. More info on how to generate keys in our support article here.

Once FileZilla is open, access File > Site Manager. You will need to update a few settings.

  1. Change Protocol to 'SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol'

  2. Change Host to 'sftp.jawntpass.com'

  3. Change Port to '22'

  4. Change Logon Type to 'Key File'

  5. Change User to 'YourCompanyName' (Jawnt will provide you with this information)

  6. You will then add your Key file. This is the private key that you previously generated (will not have the .pub extension).

    1. Note: you may need to change FileZilla's search from default search for 'PPK files' to 'All files' in order for your private key to appear.

  7. Press 'Connect' to connect to the Jawnt SFTP server

You can now drag and drop your properly formatted CSV onto Jawnt's SFTP server. Click here for a support article detailing how to properly format your CSV. The Jawnt software will then process the CSV and generate employees for your organization.
