What happens to my unused funds if I unenroll or am no longer eligible for benefits?

Jawnt Pass is an IRS-regulated pre-tax benefit, and per IRS guidelines, unused funds are handled differently depending on your enrollment status. Here's what happens if you unenroll or become ineligible for commuter benefits:

I unenrolled from Jawnt Pass. What happens to my funds?

If you choose to unenroll from Jawnt Pass but remain eligible for commuter benefits through your employer, you'll continue to have access to your Jawnt Pass and any unused funds in your account. You will not accumulate any additional funds while you are unenrolled.

You can re-enroll and update your monthly election at any time.

I became ineligible for commuter benefits. What happens to my funds?

If you separate from your employer or become ineligible for commuter benefits, your Jawnt Pass will be frozen and can no longer be used to make purchases.

You have 90 days from the date you become inactive to submit reimbursement requests through Jawnt for eligible parking expenses that were incurred while you were still an active employee.

Please note:

  • Only eligible parking expenses may be submitted for reimbursement.

  • Transit expenses are not eligible for reimbursement under IRS guidelines.

  • Reimbursement requests must be submitted within 90 days of becoming inactive. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about submitting reimbursements.
