The Jawnt Pass debit card and the MBTA are a smart combination for Boston area commuters. Whether you ride a few times a week or every day, you can use your Jawnt Pass debit card for all types of transit payments:

  • Buy single tickets for the bus, subway, ferry, or Commuter Rail

  • Purchase monthly passes at fare vending machines or via mTicket app

  • Set up auto-pay for a monthly pass on the MyCharlie website

  • Tap to Ride (pay-per-ride) on the bus, subway, or ferry

Should I choose a monthly pass or pay-per-ride?

The best option for you depends on how often you commute and which travel modes you use.

  • If you ride 4–5+ days per week, a monthly pass is likely the most economical choice

  • If you ride fewer than 4 days a week, using pay-per-ride may be better

💡 Some employers provide a commute calculator to help you compare options and choose what works best based on your commuting needs. Not sure if your employer offers a calculator? We’re happy to check for you. Just reach out to [email protected].
