How to submit a Guaranteed Ride Home reimbursement request

Written by Support

Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) is an employer benefit that covers the cost of a ride home, typically a taxi or rideshare, if an unexpected emergency comes up during the work day. Programs usually cover a set number of trips per year, up to a defined amount per trip.

Not sure if your employer offers this benefit? Look for a Guaranteed Ride Home benefit in your Jawnt account (located under My Passes), or contact your HR team to learn more.

Here's how to use the benefit:

  1. In the event of a qualified emergency, arrange for transportation beginning at your workplace

  2. Take the trip and pay for the emergency ride - make sure to save the receipt!

  3. Log in to Jawnt and go to the My Passes section of your account

  4. Under Available passes, locate Guaranteed Ride Home and select Submit

  5. Select Submit new and fill in the required information

  6. Upload your receipt. The receipt must be in JPG, PNG, GIF, or PDF format and clearly show the merchant name, purchase date, amount paid, and location.

  7. Check the box confirming that you did not travel by car, and submit your request

Next, follow a few quick steps to securely connect your bank account so you can receive your reimbursement via direct deposit.

How long do I have to submit my request?

This varies by employer, but many programs require submitting a reimbursement request within 30 days of the ride purchase date.

Keep in mind that the receipt must be from a time when you were actively enrolled in the Jawnt Pass benefit.

How long will it take to be approved?

Your request will be reviewed within 5 business days. If approved, you will receive reimbursement within an additional 5 business days.

Why was my reimbursement request denied?

Common reasons include:

  • Missing or unclear receipt

  • Receipt includes non-GRH-approved expenses

  • Duplicate request

  • Transaction date was more than 30 days ago

If you have questions about your request, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Jawnt Support.
