The Jawnt Pass is a great way to save money by using pre-tax income to save on commuting expenses. It works like any other debit card, and can be tapped, swiped, or used online. Sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. You might leave your card at home or run into a parking meter that only takes coins. It happens! And if it does, we want to make sure you know exactly what to do next.
What can get reimbursed?
Parking reimbursements are available when you pay out of pocket for parking and your Jawnt Pass account has enough funds. This gives you flexibility if your pass wasn’t available at the time of purchase or if a meter or app didn’t accept your card.
You can get reimbursed for eligible parking expenses up to $325 per month tax-free when both of the following are true:
You paid for parking out of pocket, and
You have enough funds in your Jawnt Pass account.
Why can’t transit costs be reimbursed?
The IRS prohibits cash reimbursement for transit expenses when vouchers or debit cards are available in your region.
Transit (Buses, trains, subways) costs aren’t eligible for reimbursement.
Submitting transit costs for reimbursement will not be approved.
How do I make a reimbursement request and what do I need to include?
In the Jawnt Pass section of your account, under your transit and parking balances, you will select “Reimbursements.”
Next you will select “Request reimbursement.”
A reimbursement request would appear similar to the below:
When submitting your request make sure you include:
1. A clear receipt (JPG, PNG, GIF, or PDF) that shows:
Merchant name
Purchase date
Amount paid
Location (must show where you parked)
2. Receipts must be parking-only:
No mixed receipts with food, gas, or other items.
Credit/debit card transactions are okay only if the merchant sells parking exclusively (e.g., parking garage or meter app).
3. A note stating the purchase was for parking with a brief description of why it qualifies (e.g., “Parked near my office for work on 4/5”).
What if I don’t have a receipt?
If you don’t have a receipt, you may request an Attestation Form from us via email.
Request this only if your only proof is a bank charge, and the location can be verified.
How long do I have to submit my request?
You can submit within 180 days of the parking purchase date.
The receipt must be from a time when you were actively enrolled in the Jawnt Pass benefit.
How long will it take to be approved?
Jawnt reviews your request within 5 business days.
If approved, you will receive reimbursement within an additional 5 days.
Why was my reimbursement request denied?
Common reasons include:
Missing or unclear receipt
Receipt includes non-parking expenses
Duplicate request
Receipts cannot be verified to be near an office location or near a transportation hub in your home region.
Parking date was more than 180 days ago
Not enough funds in your Jawnt Pass account at the time of review
Note: We cannot do partial reimbursements — it must be all or nothing
