Think of your Jawnt Pass as your go-to commuting card. Most of the time you’ll just tap, swipe, or use it online that works just like a debit card. It’s easy to use almost everywhere, but sometimes life gets in the way. You might leave your card at home or run into a parking meter that only takes coins. No problem! You can request a parking reimbursement instead. Just keep in mind the rules below so everything goes through smoothly.
What can get reimbursed?
Only parking expenses are eligible for reimbursement.
You can submit for reimbursement if:
You paid for parking out of pocket, and
You have enough funds in your Jawnt Pass account.
You can get reimbursed for up to $325/month tax-free.
Important: The IRS prohibits cash reimbursement for transit expenses when vouchers or debit cards are readily available in that region.
This means:
Transit cannot be reimbursed.
Only parking expenses are eligible for reimbursement.
Why can’t transit costs be reimbursed?
As mentioned above, the IRS prohibits cash reimbursement for transit expenses when vouchers or debit cards are available in your region.
Your Jawnt Pass must be used for transit benefits.
Transit costs aren’t eligible for reimbursement. Please use your Jawnt Pass directly for transit fares, since the IRS requires that. Submitting transit costs for reimbursement will not be approved.
How do I make a reimbursement request and what do I need to include?
In your Jawnt Pass passes section under transit you will see the "Request Reimbursement" button select this to complete next steps
When submitting your request make sure you include:
A clear receipt (JPG, PNG, GIF, or PDF) that shows:
Merchant name
Purchase date
Amount paid
Location (must show where you parked)
Receipts must be parking-only:
No mixed receipts with food, gas, or other items.
Credit/debit card transactions are okay only if the merchant sells parking exclusively (e.g., parking garage or meter app).
A note stating the purchase was for parking.
A brief description of why it qualifies (e.g., “Parked near my office for work on 4/5”).
A reimbursement request would appear similar to the below:
What if I don’t have a receipt?
If you don’t have a receipt, you may submit an Attestation Form.
Use this only if your only proof is a bank charge, and the location can be verified.
How long do I have to submit my request?
You can submit within 180 days of the parking purchase date.
The receipt must be from a time when you were actively enrolled in the Jawnt Pass benefit.
How long will it take to be approved?
Jawnt reviews your request within 5 business days.
If approved, you will receive reimbursement within an additional 5 days.
Why was my reimbursement request denied?
Common reasons include:
Missing or unclear receipt
Receipt includes non-parking expenses
Duplicate request
Parking date was more than 180 days ago
Not enough funds in your Jawnt Pass account at the time of review
Note: We cannot do partial reimbursements — it must be all or nothing.
